The Center Farm is located along Forest Grove road in Furlong, Pennsylvania. About a sixty second drive from the 4 lane highway Route 263 (Old York Road), it sits hidden away from sight from the highway and most people probably don't even know it exists. But it is worth stopping by for several reasons. Unlike other farms that have either been preserved or are currently sprouting housing developments, the fate of this one is still undecided. The owners would love to preserve it forever but the amount they could get for selling the development rights is far less than what they could get from a developer. Yet there is still hope that this can remain the Center Farm forever.
You can show your support and help guarantee both their financial security (so they can say "No!" to developers) and the future of the farm by taking the time to stop at the farm stand and buy as much delicious, nutritious produce as you can. The land is prime real estate for developers, and it is up to ordinary citizens to do their part and support their local farmers to help make a stand against the greedy developers. You can be sure that right now there is a developer out there that would love to acquire the fertile property, bulldoze the farm stand, knock down the hand painted signs, pave the land, and build more houses.
If you want processed Cheeze-Wiz go to your local mega-supermarket. But if you want fresh fruit and vegetables that have been grown locally instead of in Mexico or Argentina, then get out of your over-sized house, get into your over-sized SUV and drive out to the Center Farm to buy as much as you can. It's only about 4 miles (10 minutes) from the major shopping centers in the center of Doylestown and yet you won't find anything fresher or tastier in the supermarkets. Maps and directions to the farm are below.
As Nina Planck, former creator and director of farmers' markets in the U.S. and Great Britain, once stated in the New York Times, "If you love to look at farmland, you've got to eat the view--or lose it."

NO, this photo was not set up for a still-life painting. This is truly how beaufitul this farm stand is.

This is the farm stand along Forest Grove road. Please take note of the new housing rising in the background. Sprawl is everywhere. If you want to stop it, do something about it and support your local farmers!
