Shenandoah National Park

Introduction

Shenandoah National Park is located in Virginia's Blue Ridge Mountains. Through the park runs not only the winding, picturesque road known as Skyline Drive, but also 101 miles of the Appalachian Trail. For three days in the spring of 2000 I backcountry camped, alone, along the Appalachian Trail. The following are my pictures from that adventure.

This is a signpost marking the Appalachian Trail.

This is a picture of me at the summit of Hawksbill Mountain. At 4,051 feet, it is the highest peak in the park. My campsite was located somewhere in the trees along the mountainside behind where I am standing.

Another picture of me, possibly at the Timber Hollow Overlook.
