Our daughter Shira came to us as an early surprise (6 weeks early to be exact). While we were expecting her to arrive in mid-August she instead came in early July. She is, without a doubt, the most beautiful little girl ever. She was initially hospitalize in the neonatal intensive care unit due to her prematurity but quickly "graduated" to the regular hospital floor, and then was discharged home after two weeks, where she has brought us continuous joy (and exhaustion). We have taken many photos to chronicle her life. |

My sister Jodi spent her freshman year of college at Indiana University where she wrote for the Indiana Daily Student newspaper and later wrote various articles for the Penn State Daily Collegian including an article about her experience as a transfer student. She graduated from Penn State University and then received a Master's Degree in education from Temple University. Now she's an elementary school teacher in the Philadephia School system. Her one minute of fame came when she was on CNN. She's still interested in writing and has now self-published a book which can be purchased from various online sources called A Child of the 80's Looks Back. |

My father, Richard Hanauer, has become a stormy-tempered celebrity. Uh, rather, a stormy and temperate weather celebrity. This is a result of his appearance on the front page of our local newspaper in 2003 in an article detailing his affinity for weather and his careful data collection of weather-related phenomena in Bucks County over the last three decades. In fact, his name has appeared so many times in the newspaper as well as other publications that I felt compelled to create Richard Hanauer's World of Weather. Before retiring he worked as a research chemist for the Rohm & Haas Company and holds a degree in Chemical Engineering from Columbia University and a PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Wisconsin. |

My mother, Arlene Hanauer, was a high school French teacher for three decades before she decided to retire in 2005. She loves to travel and has been to Europe countless times. She is an active member of the local Alliance Francaise and has even recently taken up Mahjong. Between her gardening, book club, and other activities she doesn't have much free time--but she wouldn't have it any other way. |

My Grandfather, Fred Hanauer, came to this country from Germany at a time when the fascist Nazi regime was rising to power. He settled in Brooklyn, New York and became a skilled tradesman, mainly in refrigeration repair. He lived for a while in a beachfront apartment in Far Rockaway, Queens, New York City. Now he lives in Pennsylvania to be closer to my family who helps take care of him. |

This is my clownfish. Any normal fish would not merit inclusion on a page such as this, but this fish is an old fish. We purchased it in October, 1990 and it's still swimming to this day. My dad mainly takes care of it. We have no idea how old it is. Since it wasn't born the day we bought it we know it has to be older than 16 years old. I have been searching high and low to determine if there is any way to know how old it really is. So far I have not had any luck. |

Mark Shulewitz is 6 days older (but none the wiser) than me, and I've known him since elementary school. He grew up with me in Bucks County, then went off to college at the University of Pittsburgh. From there he went to Berkeley, California where he earned a PhD in molecular biology. He's had some of his work published in the journal Molecular and Cellular Biology. The title of his paper is a mouthful: "Hsl7 Localizes to a Septin Ring and Serves as an Adapter in a Regulatory Pathway That Relieves Tyrosine Phosphorylation of Cdc28 Protein Kinase in Saccharomyces cerevisiae." After receiving his PhD he did post-doc number one in Israel, followed by post-doc number two at Genentech. He now has a "real job" out in the San Francisco bay area and I hope no more post-docs will follow. Probably the most important thing he ever did, and ever will do, is serve as the best man in my wedding. Mark became "web-enabled" in 2007 when he put his own website online. |

I have known Stephen Susco since 7th grade. My abilities at predicting the future were proven spot-on when I wrote back in 2001 that "Steve is going to be famous someday". His big break occurred three years later when he was hired by Sony Pictures to write the script for the Hollywood blockbuster The Grudge starring Sarah Michelle Gellar. He then went on to write The Grudge 2 and has many hits on the way. You know you've made it big when you have your own "Official" web site. That makes the comments you're reading now part of the unofficial, unauthorized Stephen Susco web page. Steve is now happily married to his wife Bridget and lives out in sunny California. His wedding took place in a mountaintop villa in beautiful Tuscany, Italy -- splendido! |

This is Alex Ciurczak. We went to Cornell together. I went off to med school and he entered the real world, doing work in the technology sector. He was once the source of much of my computer knowledge. But then he started using Windows and it's never been the same since. Back when the world wide web was just starting to scratch the surface of main-stream computer users, Alex and I had a brief and interesting e-mail discussion about what we thought of it. If nothing else, it yet again confirms my abilities at making predictions. |

Tim Weber is a big whiner, and he kept complaining to me that he wasn't featured on my home page. He has no homepage of his own. As a result, I had to go through the trouble of making something just for him. He's an emergency medicine physician in Virginia. We met in Michigan but out paths also crossed for a time while we both did our residencies in New York City. Tim has a lovely wife, Lauara, and three children--all girls! Tim loves the outdoors and has been on many adventures. |

I've known Andrew Farnsworth since our freshman year at Cornell, and we were dorm/apartment-mates for 75% of our college years. He's left a trail of destruction virtually everywhere he's been. He's also left behind in his wake various other stuff including some great music with his band Mectapus, such as the song "Ka Folike". Andrew's passion for ornithology has led him to a PhD from Cornell and a Masters from Clemson University in South Carolina, the latter of which is, in Andy's own words, an institution where "almost 75% of the student body does not believe in evolution. whoomp, there it is. . ." He's written several scholarly publications on birds as well as a section of the tome, "Handbook of the Birds of the World, Volume 9: Cotingas to Pipits and Wagtails". It's hard to find him at home since he also often leads bird tours all over the globe. |

I knew Eric Machleder from Cornell, but then he went on to Stanford for a graduate degree in biochemistry where he published a paper in the presitigous journal Science. He now lives in the San Francisco Bay area with his wife Carrie. He left the research world and eventually landed a job on the corporate side of Walmart, quickly gaining Internet Fame after becoming a tent model. How does Walmart provide such low, low prices? According to Eric, "Walmart.com saves lots of money on modeling fees." Our fathers both worked at the Rohm & Haas company and actually share a patent together regarding Thermally labile rust inhibitors. Eric's digital photos are also worth checking out. |
